Preservative dentistry

Our conservative dental treatments aim to keep the existing teeth in their original position and in a healthy, aesthetic state for as long as possible, to prevent damage to the teeth and to repair them if necessary. Thanks to today’s modern materials and techniques, conservative dental treatments can be carried out very quickly and painlessly.

Restorative conservative dental treatments

A damaged tooth, such as a cavity, chipped or inflamed tooth, can cause many ailments: it can be sensitive to heat and cold, it can cause severe pain, not to mention that it can be aesthetically uncomfortable. Fortunately, the damage can be repaired by filling the tooth or, in the case of major tooth loss, by placing inlays/onlays, possibly with a root canal.

Preventive conservative dental treatments

Conservative dental treatment can be necessary not only for damaged teeth, but also for completely healthy teeth. The most common of these is excessive indentation in the back molars, making it difficult to properly clean the teeth, putting them at risk of tooth decay and even early tooth loss in childhood. A procedure called sealing can help solve this problem – and it’s worth having it done in adulthood!

Procedure of a conservative dental treatment:

Examination of the tooth/teeth, assessment of the situation (sometimes accompanied by X-rays)

Anesthesia when a tooth drilling or root canal treatment is performed

Actual restoration or preventive treatment of the tooth

Frequently asked Questions

How often you need conservative dentistry is entirely up to you – it depends a lot on your genetics, diet, oral hygiene, etc. Even if you don’t have any symptoms, you should have your teeth examined by a specialist at least once a year, because tooth decay can be symptom-free for a very long time!

Thanks to modern technologies and anesthetics, the treatment is completely painless. However, after the procedure, the treated tooth and the surrounding area may be temporarily more sensitive.

Although tooth decay does not initially cause any symptoms, over time it can lead to tooth sensitivity and pain. If it reaches the tooth root, it can develop into periodontitis with unbearable pain. If left untreated, this is not only very unpleasant, but can also lead to tooth loss. It is therefore important to take care of a damaged tooth as quickly as possible.

The type of treatment is always chosen by the dentist after assessing the problem to be prevented or corrected. Most often, fillings are used, but in the case of large, deep caries, i.e. a large loss of tooth structure, inlays or onlays can be used, and if the root of the tooth is affected, root canal treatment may be necessary.
